Autobild is a german maagazine company with a rich history for testing german models and giving outsiders information that would otherwise be hidden by the German manufacturers.

In their most recent test, they drove the Audi A3 sedan 1.4 TFSI engine. They commented on the power, transmission, dimensions, weight and features optional list for the car. They also compared it to the 316i and noted that its was more fuel efficient, more powerful, quicker, will be match features and will be significantly less expensive.

BMW has been advertising the 316i for $5,140,000 for weeks now. ATL Automotive has suggested that the A3 sedan will be between 4 - 4.5 million. That is $600,000 less.

The A3 1.4 TFSI also features Cylinder On Demand COD. This new system allows the engine to shutdown two cylinders when the vehicle does not require them to be active. However a simple push on the accelerator will activate these cylinders and the engine will immediately start operating at full power. The COD and other fuel saving systems has resulted in this car being able to achieve 60.1 mpg.

However all this fuel saving technology has not made the car into a slow poke. It will sprint from 0-100 km in 8.4s and on to a top speed of 217 km/h.
