The Volkswagen Polo is the smallest model currently offered by Volkswagen through ATL Autohaus in Jamaica. It currently is offered with one engine type and one package, the standard package with a 1.4L and 7 speed DSG. It also can be fitted with an after market bluetooth radio. Volkswagen has recently launched the 2013 Volkswagen Polo Blue GT, will be offered in Jamaica?

The Polo competes directly with the following;

- Suzuki Swift
- Honda Fit
- Nissan March
- Mazda 2
- Ford Fiesta
- Peugeot 207/208
- Hyundai i20
- Kia Rio
- Toyota Yaris
- Mini Hatch
- Audi A1

However there is a sub set within this niche which is the sporty versions of these cars. These models are listed below.

- Suzuki Swift Sport - 1.6L, 136 hp, 0-100 km/h = 8.7s, 121 mph, 44.1 mpg

- Honda Fit RS - 1.5L, 120 hp, 42.2 mpg

- Ford Fiesta 1.6 Duratec Ti-VCT - 1.6L, 134 hp, 0-100 km/h = 8.7s, 121 mph, 48.7 mpg

- Peugeot 208 VTi - 1.6L, 120 hp, 0-100 km/h = 8.9s, 118 mph, 48.7 mpg

- Kia Rio 1.6 GDI - 1.6L, 140 hp, 50 mpg

- Toyota Yaris RS - 1.5L, 109 hp, 53.1 mpg

- Mini Hatch Cooper - 1.6L, 122 hp, 0-100 km/h = 9.1s, 126 mph, 52.3 mpg

- Audi A1 1.4 TFSI(140hp)- 1.4L, 140 hp, 0-100 km/h = 7.9s, 130 mph, 62.8 mpg

- Volkswagen Polo Blue GT - 1.4L, 140 hp, 0-100 km/h = 7.9s, 130 mph, 62.8 mpg

The 2013 would compete directly against these and could beat them all in the following ways.

- The Swift Sport is the best competitor and more people have purchased this model than any other sporty subcompact hatchback. The 2012 Swift Sport is less powerful, slower and significantly less frugal than the Polo Blue GT.

- Mini Hatch Cooper and Audi A1 1.4 TFSI(140hp) will cost significantly more than the Polo Blue GT.

- The other hatchbacks are currently not available through the new car dealers.

The 2013 Volkswagen Polo Blue GT is due out between May - September 2013. Will the Polo Blue GT make it to Jamaica?
