Petrojam has released this week's price index. For the third week in a row the price of both E10-87 and E10-90 have increased, this week both E10 variants have increased by $1.10. There is some good news however as the price of diesel has decreased by $0.73 this week.

Below are this weeks prices from Petrojam;

E10-87 = $105.9428 ($104.8428 - March 22, 2012)

E10-90 = $107.5987 ($106.4987 - March 22, 2012)

Diesel = $105.7603 ($106.4903 - March 22, 2012)

Below are Autoinfoja's proposed maximum retail price for each fuel variant and like we say every week, if you are paying more than this, you are paying too much.

E10-87 = $116.5371

E10-90 = $118.3586

Diesel = $116.3363

The price of fuel continue to go up at an alarming rate. The last prices for last year happen to be from the day of the general elections. Its been exactly 3 months since then and the price of each fuel variant has increased as follows;

E10-87 = $11.25

E10-90 = $11.25

Diesel = $6.10

The PNP won the last general election in a landslide and therefore have majority vote for any changes that are to be made by the newly formed government.

One change that will be welcomed by the people of Jamaica is the removal of SCT on fuel. The previous government introduced the SCT on fuel and it currently adds the following amounts to each fuel variant;

E10-87 = $16.1061

E10-90 = $16.4792

Diesel = $15.4145

Without this extra tax the cost per liter will be below $100.00 at the pump for all fuel variants. I would welcome that change.
