The cost of fuel remains a growing concern for the people of Jamaica. More people are changing the purchasing habits and more people searching for fuel efficiency as their second highest priority behind sale price. The average new car will return 35 mpg. However the smaller sedans and hatchbacks with engines below 1.6L are returning 40+ mpg. Compare that to the average from 10 years ago where the average fuel economy was an estimated 27 mpg.

If people change their cars and not their driving habits then they should see some drastic reductions in fuel consumption and should be able to see substantial returns after a year.

This is the only real way to fight off the growing cost of fuel as it seems that there will be no reprieve from the suppliers, local refinery or the government any time soon.
