The Audi Q3 was launched in April 2011 at the 2011 Shanghai Motor Show and was well received. Now Audi is launching the Audi Q3 RS concept at the 2012 International Automotive Exhibition in Beijing.
The standard Q3 has the following options
- 2.0 TDI - 6-speed manual, 140 hp, 320 Nm, 0-100 km/h 9.9s, top speed 202 km/h, 5.2 L/100km
- 2.0 TDI quattro - 7-speed S tronic, 177 hp, 380 Nm, 0-100 km/h 8.2s, top speed 212 km/h, 5.9 L/100km
- 2.0 TFSI quattro - 6-speed manual, 170 hp, 280 Nm, 0-100 km/h 8.2s, top speed 212 km/h, 7.3 L/100km
- 2.0 TFSI quattro - 7-speed S tronic, 170 hp, 280 Nm, 0-100 km/h 7.8s, top speed 212 km/h, 7.7 L/100km
- 2.0 TFSI quattro - 7-speed S tronic, 211 hp, 300 Nm, 0-100 km/h 6.9s, top speed 230 km/h, 7.7 L/100km
The Q3 RS concepts sports a 2.5L TFSI that produces 360 hp, thrust the car from 0-100 km/h in 5.2s and has a top speed of 265 km/h. This is the same engine found in the 2012 Audi TT RS plus. Unofficially it could return 9.1 L/100km
This model also sports a wider body, enlarged wheel arches, well defined body kit, lowered suspension and has the RS badges that are worth their weight in gold.
The interior has sports seats made from Fine Nappa Leather which is mostly black but also has dark blue Alcantara that provides a contrasting appeal, glass roof and RS badging on the steering wheel, instrument cluster, shifter lever and engraved in the seats.
Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic (CFRP) is used to lower weight and still provide surprisingly strong materials. It's used in the honeycomb mesh in the front grille, in the shifter paddles and accents several items throughout the cabin including the steering wheel.
The Q3 RS Concept looks production ready and could very well be available in Germany by later this year.
We are still yet to see the first 2012 Audi Q3 and are more likely to see a 2013 model later in the year. At this rate we will not have access to this car from ATL Autohaus until late 2013. Estimated price should be slightly higher than the Audi RS3 and should be on sale for just under $9,000,000 hopefully. The BMW 1M is the only other sports car in stock that shares this price, it is however a coupe. This would be the fastest compact SUV in our market and provides the same performance as the BMW 1M with more practicality. See the comparison below
